Liberating Ourselves and Counseling Others

Resolving Internal Conflicts

Depression is indicative of a state of alienation from our own needs. Internal thoughts like “should”, etc contribute.

Convert the internal dialog to this template:

When X, I feel Y, because I am needing Z. Therefore I now would like A.

Caring For Our Inner Environment

When there is a problem (big or small):

Focus on what we want to do rather than what went wrong.

Don’t focus on figuring out the cause! Focus on what we want to do now about it.

Driving on a road full of maniacs stressful? Translate into your feelings and needs. Then empathize with others.

Defuse stress by hearing our feelings and needs.
Defuse stress by empathizing with others.

Replacing Diagnosis With NVC

The trouble with diagnoses (including clinical ones) is that you start attributing all behavior to it.
